“Southwestern is a collection of new and recent paintings made after my mother passed away and I inherited a trove of photos from bygone eras and meaningful ephemera connected to New Mexico. My mother was born and raised in Albuquerque and we often visited her parents in Tucumcari, where they spent their later years.
I have distinct memories of the beautiful and desolate landscape on the long drives to visit. This group of paintings contemplates the beauty, mystery, and rugged lifestyle of decades past in New Mexico (and a little bit of Texas), mostly through family history. Also included is a painting of young Georgia O’Keeffe in Amarillo in 1912.” — Page Turner-Uribe
